Admission dates for 2010/2011:
Candidates to the MAP-tele program can apply within the following periods:
- 1st selection phase:
- Submission of applications: 8th of April to 10th of May 2010.
- Selection: 11-22 of May 2010.
- Publication of results: Announcement on the 2nd of June (delayed).
- Registration: 1-3 of July 2010.
- 2nd selection phase:
- Submission of applications: 15th of June to 12th of July 2010.
- Selection: 13-24 of July 2010.
- Publication of results: 29th of July 2010.
- Registration: 17-22 September 2010.
How to apply to MAP-tele?
To apply for admission to MAPtele, read the following instructions carefully and make certain that you have met all requirements when you submit your application. Prospective students should prepare:
- An application letter (in english) detailing, in a succinct but clear way, your academic and professional background as well as your motivation and objectives for pursuing PhD studies in Telecommunications. Your letter should be specific in describing your interests and motivations. When describing your research interests, you should explain why you think they are important areas of study and why you are particularly well-suited to pursuing them.
- A detailed curriculum vitae: outline your education, research experience, work experience, publications, scholarships awarded, prizes and honors received, society memberships, and any other extracurricular activities. Include information about your fluency in written and spoken English.
- Three recommendation letters: recommenders should know you relatively well and be able to evaluate the quality of your previous work. At least two should be from faculty or recent employers. Letters should be signed and sent directly to us by email by the recommenders to map-tele@map.edu.pt. Paper recommendations will not be accepted.
- One transcript for each university degree mentioned in your resume. Please provide transcript of grades also and transcripts of any certificate of English proficiency, such as TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge Proficiency examination..
The curriculum vitae must be appended with a clear description of the grades system in your country, as well as an explanation on how to convert your grades into a 0-100% scale.
Fluency in written and spoken English, preferably certified by a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge Proficiency examination, is an admission criterion.
