The MAP Doctoral Programmes are a joint venture of Universidade do Minho, Universidade de Aveiro and Universidade do Porto, three top Portuguese Universities.
In 2007-08 the following two MAP Doctoral Programmes will be available:
- MAP-i (MAP Doctoral Programme in Computer Science), whose first edition will be hosted by the Universidade do Minho.
- MAP-tele (MAP Doctoral Programme in Telecommunications), whose first edition will be hosted by the Universidade de Aveiro.
In each scientific area such Doctoral Programmes represent a pioneer initiative and a strategic commitment to knowledge, to face highly complex scientific and technological challenges, and prepare the indispensable highly qualified human resources.
MAP Programmes target both national and international audiences and are designed for excellence and competitiveness at the international level. They aim to prepare selected students for leadership in research and development careers in industry, academia and independent entrepreneurial initiatives.
MAP-CMU Partnership

The MAP Consortium is taking part in the CMU-Portugal partnership between Carnegie Mellon University and the Portuguese Government, implemented through ICTI: Information and Communication Technologies Institute.
Successful students might be awarded the PhD degree from CMU and the Doctorate from the MAP Consortium. In such cases, the doctoral research will be carried out both in Portugal and in the United States, co-advised by CMU faculty and CMU-accredited Portuguese faculty.
